Stress and Transcendental Meditation

When life gets complicated, stressful and there is so much going on how do you cope?

The mind is racing, thoughts and feelings are all over the place and it becomes hard to function. My family is going through some life changing stressful events with my mom and mother-in-law that has been getting progressively worse since April. My 18 year old son went to the prom, graduated high school and will be attending community college in the fall. It has been a whirlwind of events. Anyone living with a teenager knows how exhausting that can be!

After doing much soul searching and research I felt that TM would be best for our family. We needed to go outside of the home and each be taught a skill so that we could get back on track with our lives and deal with the challenges that are before us.

We attended the lecture and are very intrigued. My husband and son are a bit skeptical which I understand is common. We will learn about this technique at the end of August and I will update you along the way. I am very excited!

      Thanks Kara,
      I always thought that meditation was interesting “for other people” until I started doing some research. There are so many scientific studies that have been done to show how the state of restful alertness develops the total brain and eliminates accumulated stress and fatigue. We do have a choice in how we live our lives and working from home, taking care of the body and mind are all part of it. I would love to tell you more.

    Hi Cathy,

    I am continually surprised how small this world. My son-in-law is Nick Hagelin. Two weeks ago I went to the Hagelin family reunion, John actually got married that week in a resort area in VT.

    Pretty much all of their family does TM and I was intrigued at the calmness and love in their family–from all ages.

    My daughter Christina says Amy and I would love it. All evidence is pointing in that direction. Thanks for sharing.

      Hi Terry,
      Yes, it is a small world and I am looking forward to meeting John and of course your family!
      We completed the 4 session TM course and all I can say is what took me so long! If a teenager and a husband who went in saying “I really don’t believe in that stuff” started saying how great they feel and “I’m meditating now” that says a lot.
      There are lots of meditators around you now and Christina is right you will love it!

    I love TM and have seen great benefits from using it. I became so much calmer (although I never considered myself type A at all) And dealt with the stressed of parenting 2 toddlers.

    I love anything that makes me a better parent!

      Debbie, it is great that you were able to do TM when you had 2 little ones! I certainly would have benefited when my son was little but he’s 18 so I certainly need to meditate now.
